We believe the Church did NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in 1914, but we understand it was closed after 1987.

St Paul's is mentioned in Kelly's Directory of 1932. Kelly also records that Mastin Moor had a Primitive Methodist Chapel, and an Isolation Hospital had been built here in 1904, belonging to Chesterfield Rural District Council.

The church is marked on my OS Landranger Map of 1987, but not on my OS Derbyshire Street Atlas of 1995. Old Maps show it was built adjacent to (north of) a school, which had been built by 1898. The latter is still (2013) in existence, though boarded up, whilst the church has been demolished and its site occupied by private housing.

Now or formerly Church of England.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.

This Church was located at OS grid reference SK4534175503. You can see this on various mapping systems. Note all links open in a new window:

(NB I know the first two don't work as intended - the Jury's still out as to what to do about it...)
