This Church has (or had) a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in 1725, and we understand it is still open.

Christ Church was built originally as Chapel of Ease of Bisley. A separate ecclesiastical parish of Chalford was formed in 1842, and on 10th August 1894, it was constituted a civil parish. The parish registers date from 1841.

The building of Christ Church was begun by residents in 1724, and it is now a Grade II Listed Building - see British Listed Buildings website for details. [Other Source: Kelly's Directory (1923)]

Now or formerly Church of England.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.

This Church is located at OS grid reference SO8919502537. You can see this on various mapping systems. Note all links open in a new window:

(NB I know the first two don't work as intended - the Jury's still out as to what to do about it...)
