Cemeteries

We believe the Church does NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in 2002, and we understand it is still open.

The notice board indicates St Michael & All Angels is the parish church of Bishopston and St Andrews.

It is a replacement for the 19th century St Michael's, which was on the opposite side of Gloucester Road. The latter was demolished in 1997 as it had become structurally unsound. Whilst the congregation were waiting for St Michael's parish rooms to be converted into today's church and parish centre, services were held in a former Gospel Hall, built for a group of Christian Brethren, on the opposite side of Gloucester Road.

See Phil Draper's ChurchCrawler website for the full story, and the About Bristol website for the reference to the Gospel Hall.

Denomination

Now or formerly Church of England.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.
