Church History

This Cemetery or Burial Ground was founded in 1888, and we understand it is still open.

Ridgeway Park Cemetery is under the control of Bristol City Council, and administered from Canford Cemetery and Crematorium Office, Canford Lane, Westbury on Trym, Bristol, BS9 3PQ.

According to the Bristol & Avon Family History Society website, it was set up by a private company in 1888. At the time of compilation of Kelly's Directory of Bristol of 1902, the Ridgeway Park Cemetery Co. Limited (James Cozens, sec), was listed with an address of Carlton Chambers, Baldwin street. According to BAFHS, the company was wound up in 1949 and by 1954, the City Corporation (as it was then) was obliged to take it over due to its deterioration. From this time, burials have only taken place in existing graves.

Denomination
