Cemeteries

We believe the Church does NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded after 1990, and we understand it is still open.

The Community Church in Southmead was founded in conjunction with the Henleaze & Westbury Community Church, in Albert Place, Westbury on Trym. According to the Church's website, the latter was founded in 1993, "to accommodate the growth of Highgrove Church" [Sea Mills]. It is now better known as the "Westbury Centre", and is used for mid-week activities only, Sunday services being held at the Greenway Centre in Southmead. It is not known whether this change was coincident with the foundation of the Southmead meeting.

The Greenway Centre was formerly Greenway Secondary School which closed in 1985. The building was purchased by Bristol City Council in 1988, and may be said to operate for, and by local people since its opening in the early 1990s.

Denomination

Now or formerly Christians.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.
