Cemeteries

We believe the Church does NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in 1952, and we understand it is still open.

The present St Augustine's church building was opened in 1962, but its congregation can be dated back to 1952, when Mass began to be celebrated in a temporary building for those living on the new housing estate at Matson.

Centres for worship were also established at Brockworth, Churchdown, and Tuffley during the 20th century, but St Peter ad Vincula's church in London Road has continued as the main place of worship for the city and the area to the south and west. Denomination

Now or formerly Roman Catholic.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.
