We believe the Church does NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

We don't know when this Place of Worship was founded, but we understand it is still open.

Meetings of Cirencester Spiritualist Church are held in Room 4 of The Old Memorial Hospital, which is on the opposite side of Sheep Street to the former Sheep Street Congregational Chapel (now the Cirencester Memorial Centre). The Memorial Hospital was built 1873-5 by the 5th Earl Bathurst, and closed in the late 1980s. The front of the premises is now occupied by the Cirencester Register Office, but it is understood other groups using rooms in the premises access them from the rear. Now or formerly Spiritualist.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.

This Church is located at OS grid reference SP0210601833. You can see this on various mapping systems. Note all links open in a new window:

(NB I know the first two don't work as intended - the Jury's still out as to what to do about it...)

I have found many websites of use whilst compiling the information for this database. Here are some which deserve mention as being of special interest for Cirencester, and perhaps to Local History and Places of Worship as a whole.
