Cemeteries

We believe the Church did NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded by 1990, though it is now closed, but we don't yet know when.

Although I have been unable to find any present-day references to this Church, it evidently existed in 1990, as the following notice in The London Gazette of 26th July 1990 (p.12414) recorded its registration for marriages:

A Building certified for worship named FLAME OF REVIVAL PENTECOSTAL CHURCH, Chellaston Road, Derby in the registration district of Derby in the Non-Metropolitan County of Derbyshire was on 10th July 1990, registered for solemnising marriages therein pursuant to section 41 of the Marriage Act 1949 as amended by section 1(1) of the Marriage Acts Amendment Act, 1958. Dated 19th July 1990.

It is also is listed in Places recorded by the Registrar General under the provisions of the Places of Worship Registration Act 1855 (2010), as "Flame of Revival Touch of God Assembly Pentecostal Church", with an address of Chellaston Road, and a congregation recorded as "The Touch of God and The Pentecostal Church".

The same issue of the Gazette also recorded the closure of the Door of Hope Sanctuary and Christian Centre, which had been meeting in Normanton Barracks - a fact which may be either purely incidental, or an indication that Flame of Revival was its replacement.

Denomination

Now or formerly Pentecostal.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.

I have found many websites of use whilst compiling the information for this database. Here are some which deserve mention as being of special interest for Allenton, Derby, and perhaps to Local History and Places of Worship as a whole.

The above links were selected and reviewed at the time I prepared the information, but please be aware their content may vary, or disappear entirely. These factors are outside my control.
