Cemeteries This Church has (or had) a graveyard. Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all. Church History This Place of Worship was founded in 1853, and we understand it is still open. In Domesday, Heath was called "Lune", and afterwards "Lowne", or "Lund". It is on the road from Chesterfield to Mansfield, and in 1932 had a station 1 mile away on the Great Central section of the London and North Eastern railway, and was also a mile distant from Glapwell station on the Clown and Bolsover branch of the London, Midland and Scottish railway. It is five miles south-east of Chesterfield, and about 4 miles north-east of Clay Cross. The old church of All Saints was demolished in 1852. It was about a quarter mile east of the present village of Heath, "where, no doubt, was the ancient village of Lowne or Lund; subsequently the heath being subjected to cultivation and houses rising upon it, the new village took the name it now bears". The present church of All Saints, erected in 1853, is a building of stone in the Decorated style, consisting of chancel and nave and a western tower with spire, containing 5 bells, hung in 1883. There are four stained windows, and a tablet to those who fell in the Great War, 1914-1918. The parish records, which cover events which took place in the Old All Saints Church, begin in 1682. • You can specify a church or chapel's Dedication, to restrict entries to those containing the term you supply as a dedication. So for instance, 'John' would return 'St John', 'St Mary and St John', 'St John the Divine' &c.
• You can specify a Street address, and likewise 'George' will return George Place, St George's Street, George and Dragon, &c.
• You can restrict the search to classes of Denomination. The exact denomination is always shown in the results, although the search is for broad types. Thus you can search for 'Methodist', but not 'Wesleyan Methodist' or 'Primitive Methodist'. 'Multi-denominational' includes Ecumenical Partnerships, and 'Miscellaneous' means anything not covered by other broad classes.
