Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in 1888, and we understand it is still open.

Here is another delightful "Forest" church, approached by tree-lined roads, but with a very neat appearance, and an extensive graveyard.
It was built as a chapel of ease of Tidenham in 1888 by the Rev. Fielding Palmer M.A. at a cost of £1,200, and is a building of stone, consisting of chancel, nave, south porch and a turret containing one bell. The east window is a memorial to Miss P. Philips, of Pen Moel House, Tutshill, and the two west windows form a memorial to the Rev. Palmer, who died in 1897. [Source: Kelly's Directory of Gloucestershire (1923)]
Mike Salter, in his booklet Parish Churches of The Forest of Dean (1990) adds that it was designed by S. Gambier-Parry, and that inside is a reredos with mosaics, and there is contemporary glass in the east window in a Pre-Raphaelite style.
