This Church has/had a graveyard.
Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in 1815, but we don't know whether or not it is still open.

The church is mentioned in Kelly's Directory of 1923, but no mention is made of when it was opened. It is not recorded in Non-Conformist Chapels and Meeting Houses, Gloucestershire (1986) either. However the Congregational Federation website provides the information that it opened in 1815 (listed in South West Midlands).
Baptisms (1826-1906) and Burials (1863-1895) at the Chapel have been recorded by Sue Ross, and are available via the North Nibley (GENUKI) webpage.
Evidently in 1973, its congregation opted not to join the newly formed United Reformed Church, as it remains, in 2018, one of the nation-wide "independent free churches" recorded on the Congregational Federation website.

Search Tips:

You can specify either a Place, or OS Grid Reference to search for. When you specify a Place, only entries for that place will be returned, with Places of Worship listed in alphabetical order. If you specify a Grid Reference, Places of Worship in the immediate vicinity will be listed, in order of distance from the Grid Reference supplied. 'Multi-denominational' includes Ecumenical Partnerships, and 'Miscellaneous' means anything not covered by other broad classes.
