Cemeteries

This Church had a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in the 13th century, but we understand it was closed before 1901.

Littlebury's Directory of Herefordshire, 1876-7 says it "has nave, chancel, porch, and low tower containing two bells". Pevsner (1963) says "in ruins and shrouded by ivy". Mike Salter, in The Old Parish Churches of Herefordshire (1998) says it is probably 13th century. Presumably it was allowed to fall into ruins following the building of William Lethaby's "Arts & Crafts" church for Mrs Alice Madeline Foster, of Brockhampton Court.

Denomination

Now or formerly Church of England.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.
