Cemeteries

We believe the Church does NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded in 2008, and we understand it is still open.

These were newly built premises after Jehovah's Witnesses transferred their place of worship from Snitterton Road. The entrance is just below the car park to the Municipal Offices. Their address, and postcode are as listed in Places recorded by the Registrar General under the provisions of the Places of Worship Registration Act 1855 (2010)

This is their third home in Matlock. The following notice in The London Gazette of 15th February 2008 (p.0) recorded the registration for marriage of these premises:

A Building certified for worship named KINGDOM HALL, Bank Road, Matlock in the registration district of Bakewell in the Non-Metropolitan County of Derbyshire, was on 30 January 2008, registered for solemnising marriages in lieu of Kingdom Hall, 31 Snitterton Road, Matlock, therein pursuant to section 41 of the Marriage Act 1949, as amended by section 1(1) of the Marriage Acts Amendment Act 1958. Dated 11 February 2008.

Their original premises, in Horseshoe Yard, Matlock Green, was first registered in 1957, and vacated in 1975.

Denomination

Now or formerly Jehovah's Witness.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.
