Cemeteries

We believe the Church does NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded before 1994, and we understand it is still open.

This appears to be a new(-ish) building for a new housing estate. It is listed in Places recorded by the Registrar General under the provisions of the Places of Worship Registration Act 1855 (2010), for which further investigation turned up the following notice in The London Gazette of 22nd May 1975 (p.6667):

A Building certified for worship named KINGDOM HALL, 8 Coxwell Street, Cirencester, in the registration district of Cirencester, in the non-metropolitan county of Gloucestershire, was on 15th May 1975, registered for solemnizing marriages therein pursuant to section 41 of the Marriage Act, 1949 as amended by section 1(1) of the Marriage Acts Amendment Act, 1958. Dated 19th May 1975.

And a subsequent notice in The London Gazette of 23rd November 1994 (p.16396):

A Building certified for worship named THE KINGDOM HALL, Meadow Road, Cirencester, in the registration district of Cirencester in the Non-Metropolitan county of Gloucestershire, was on 9th November 1994, registered for solemnizing marriages therein pursuant to section 41 of the Marriage Act, 1949 as amended by section 1(1) of the Marriage Acts Amendment Act, 1958. Dated 16th November 1994.

Denomination

Now or formerly Jehovah's Witness.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.
