Archaeological evidence is cited for the location of St Mary's church, described in Derby City Council e-planning document: An Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment of Land Fronting Bold Lane and St Mary's Gate, Derby as "on the corner of St Mary's Gate and what is now Queen Street". Its Easting and Northing are given as 351 and 365. This places it on the south-west corner of the junction, to the west of the Cathedral, and to the south of the former St Mary's Gate Baptist Chapel. Denomination Now or formerly Medieval Chapel. If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication. • You can restrict the search to classes of Denomination. The exact denomination is always shown in the results, although the search is for broad types. 'Multi-denominational' includes Ecumenical Partnerships, and 'Miscellaneous' means anything not covered by other broad classes.
