We believe the Church did NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded before 1952, but we understand it was closed by 2005, and the premises are now in secular use.

A list of Places of Worship on the Bristol & Avon Family History Society website includes a Meeting Room for Plymouth Brethren in Devonshire Road, Westbury Park. Old Maps of 1952-53, and 1970 show a building at the extreme north-east of the street, marked as a "Hall". Google StreetView reveals a long, rectangular, single-storey building, with a central entrance, and two 3-light domestic-type windows on either side. There are similar windows in the sides, and the whole is pebble-dashed. A Google StreetView image of September 2012 of the front indicates a rectangular area, lighter than the rest, to the right of the doorway, which suggests the removal of a notice board at that position, indicating that it is no longer in use as a place of public worship.

This may be confirmed by the closure of "MEETING ROOM 99, Westbury Park, Bristol" [sic], recorded in The London Gazette of 28th September 2005 (p.12523) in a list of buildings which are "no longer used by the congregations on whose behalf they were recorded for worship"... The date of its original certification is unknown.

Now or formerly Plymouth Brethren.

If more than one congregation has worshipped here, or its congregation has united with others, in most cases this will record its original dedication.

I have found many websites of use whilst compiling the information for this database. Here are some which deserve mention as being of special interest for Westbury Park, Bristol, and perhaps to Local History and Places of Worship as a whole.

The above links were selected and reviewed at the time I prepared the information, but please be aware their content may vary, or disappear entirely. These factors are outside my control.
