We believe the Church does NOT have a graveyard.

Note: any church within an urban environment may have had its graveyard closed after the Burial Act of 1853. Any new church built after that is unlikely to have had a graveyard at all.

Church History

This Place of Worship was founded by 1971, and we understand it is still open.

Here is a Salvation Army Hall, which is also known as "Knowle West Community Church", according to a sign above its entrance (as of Google StreetView of May 2014). It is situated on the south side of Padstow Road, just past its junction with Connaught Road, and is a rectangular building of red brick, with red paintwork, and sides of 5 bays, some with windows. The front has double entrance doors, and three rectangular windows - one on either side of the doorway, and one above it, which looks as though it may have been added at a later date.

The following notice in The London Gazette of 24th September 1971 (p.10368):

A building certified for worship named SALVATION ARMY HALL, 4 Padstow Road, Knowle in the registration district of Bristol in the County Borough of Bristol was on 16th September 1971 registered for solemnizing marriages therein pursuant to section 41 of the Marriage Act, 1949 as amended by section 1(1) of the Marriage Acts Amendment Act, 1958. Dated 18th September 1971.

Note: the Hall, or a predecessor, was in existence prior to this date, as a building at the same location is shown on Old Maps of 1949 as a "Mission Hall".

Denomination

Now or formerly Salvation Army.
